Day 10 – Finding Calm in the Cosmic Chaos
When the sky grows dark and the wind begins to hum, the world remembers Guabancex—((pronounced GWAH-bahn-seks) the Taíno Goddess of Storms. She is the whirling force of transformation, the embodiment of both chaos and renewal. To the Taíno, hurricanes were not punishments from the gods; they were sacred corrections—nature’s way of rebalancing energy.
I was only five when I met that power firsthand.
A hurricane swept through Puerto Rico and held us captive for days. I can still see my mother and brother, the flicker of candles, and my little cup of strawberry milk that was never refilled. I didn’t yet know that the storm outside mirrored the one that would live in me—an energy both fierce and calm, a nervous system wired for motion yet tuned for peace.
🌪️ The Eye of the Storm
As I grew older and learned I was AuDHD, I realized how deeply I resonate with Guabancex. To others, I might seem chaotic—too fast, too much, too nonlinear. But inside, there’s an eye of stillness, a place that never moves no matter how wild life becomes.
That is the secret of Guabancex: she is not destruction, she is balance in motion. The winds that uproot also pollinate. The rain that floods also renews. The storm that terrifies also teaches surrender.
🌙 Chaos as Catalyst
As a Behique—a Taíno healer and spiritual mediator—I’ve come to see that chaos isn’t the enemy. It’s the creative pulse of the universe. My podcast, “Being Cosmic Chaos,” was born from this truth: that every storm, inner or outer, is a conversation between old energy dying and new energy being born.
Guabancex reminds us that healing isn’t always gentle. Sometimes it arrives as thunder.
And yet, even in her roar, she carries compassion. She doesn’t destroy for the sake of pain—she clears the way for the next season of growth.
⚖️ New Moon in Libra: The Rebalance
This New Moon in Libra rises right after her storm—an invitation to restore harmony within ourselves. It’s the breath after the hurricane, the calm after the cleanse.
So tonight, as the moon disappears and Guabancex’s winds settle, take a deep breath. Feel the still point within your own chaos. That’s the part of you that has always known how to dance in the storm.
🌺
Reflection & Invitation
Close your eyes and listen for your own inner storm.
💫 Ask yourself: What is Guabancex trying to clear for me? Where is chaos actually helping me begin again?
Let yourself exhale. You are the calm in the center of creation.
